WHO records 219 million cases of malaria in 2018

The fight against malaria in the World has stalled after years of decline. This is a warning that came today from the World Health Organization(WHO) during the launch of the 2018 World Malaria report.

Last year, there was 219 million cases of malaria globally, almost the same as the year before. Children in the five are the most vulnerable accounting for more than half of all the cases.

The vast majority of cases happened in Sub-Saharan Africa, in fact, just four countries; Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and Uganda concentrated almost half of the cases globally.

In 2016, more than 435,000 people died from malaria, children again, are the most vulnerable since they have not developed proper defences. Every two minutes, a child dies of malaria.
