Christchurch shooting: British man arrested for supporting the attack

Two mosques were attacked in Christchurch

A British man from Oldham has been detained in Greater Manchester after he made a post on Social Media making reference and showing support for the shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand which 49 people where killed in two mosques.



The Greater Manchester Police report says the 24-year-old from Oldham was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of sending 'malicious communications'. No details has been given about the content of what he is alleged to have written.

Here is what a spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Police said:


"This is a very difficult time for people. The events in New Zealand have reverberated around the world. Many people are in deep shock and are worried."
"It is at times like this that, as a community, we stand together."
"Where the law permits and people cross the line, we will take robust action, which may include arrest and prosecution."
Meanwhile, The New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has expressed deep condolences to the Muslim community and the families of the victims of the Christchurch Shooting, and has also promised that the country's gun law would be changed in the wake of the attack.
