Two Killed In Mogadishu Bomb Blast
A top Somalian Journalist is among at least a dozen of people who were killed in a bomb blast in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu. Awil Dibar and his driver died in the first blast, a suicide car bomb that detonated at a checkpoint near the Presidential Palace.
Atleast seventeen people were injured in the explosions. Mr Dibar has been based in Mogadisu for years and is regarded as one of the horns of African Countries Journalists that worked to revive the media industry in that area.
Al Qaeda affiliated militant group Al Shabab, claimed responsibility for the attack. Al Shabab has waged an Islamist war on Somalia for over a decade, killing tens of thousands and displacing millions of others.
Crushing the militant group is one of the President Muhammad Abdullah's pledge, one which he has continued to reiterate.
