Atiku Urges President Buhari To Own Up To Failure In Anti Corruption War Instead Of Blaming The System
The Presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has told President Muhammadu Buhari not to blame the Nigerian System for his failure to fight corruption but to own up to his responsibilities. Atiku said this on Wednesday in a response to President Muhammadu Buhari's statement on his fight against corruption when he reacted to critics referring to him as "Baba go slow" and said he his not slow but rather, it is the Nigerian system that is slow, but in his reaction, Atiku Abubakar said that the problem with President Muhammadu Buhari's anti corruption war is not the system, but the President
himself.
Atiku Abubakar said further that Buhari admitting that his administration is slow shows the failure of his administration and tackling corruption. He said the President's response corroborates Transparency International whose latest corruption perception index shows that Nigeria is more corrupt today than it was under the previous administration.
According to him, the system allows for the arrest, trial and conviction of people like the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, who was fingered in a major corruption case, but that President Muhammadu Buhari chose to let him go scot-free, thereby tolerating his tolerance for the SGF's corruption.
Atiku stated that it is action such as this that have led to an unprecedented capital plight which have caused joblessness and mad Nigeria the world headquarter for extreme poverty under President Buhari's watch.
