Gunmen open fire in Lau Local Government Area market in Taraba State

Gunmen opens fire in a local livestock trading market community in Lau local Government Area in Taraba State, at least three herders have been feared dead and several others have been injured according to the Police.

The market who had just recently been opened due to an ethno religious crisiscrisis that caused the mayo lope town traders to flee the community.

According to what witnesses told the PREMIUM TIMES, the gunmen stormed the market in the afternoon business hours of Saturday.

“People were busy buying and selling cattle, sheep and goats and farm produce” when gunmen suddenly appeared and opened fire, a witness said.

“Three traders were killed instantly and 11 others injured as I am talking to you now,’’ Mallum Kawu, a cattle dealer who said he narrowly escaped the attack, told PREMIUM TIMES.
